Samsung Electronics will launch a special mobile security rewards program by allowing experts or anyone to hack into its mobile devices and find vulnerable security loopholes. A cash reward of up to 200,000 US dollars will be offered.
As a leading provider of mobile devices, Samsung recognizes the importance of protecting data and information, and prioritizes security in the development of each product and service, Rhee In-jong, head of Samsung's mobile communications division, said in a statement Friday.
Samsung promised to reward any vulnerabilities in its latest services. The tech giant carried out a pilot program last year and data collected through it will be used in developing monthly and quarterly software updates for a total of 28 devices.
