Kim Joo-hyuk, a popular actor, has died in a car accident. while driving a Mercedes Benz G-Class SUV on a broad road in southern Seoul.
According to a police statement, Kim's SUV smashed the back of a sedan in Seoul's Gangnam District at 4:30 pm (0730GMT) Monday and rolled down to the sunken garden-type entrance of an apartment complex right next to the road.
When firefighters rescued and moved him to a hospital, Kim was unconscious, and doctors failed to resuscitate him. The sedan's driver told investigators that he saw the actor groping for his chest straight after the first crash. Kim was given the best-supporting-actor award last week at a film awards festival for the first time in his career.
