Naver Labs, the AI wing of South Korea's web service giant Naver, will open technologies being used in the development of "Aircart", a handcart applied with robot technology to carry heavy objects with ease.

The cart drives itself in a coordinated move, with sensors in its handle predicting the movement of operators. Naver Labs promised to hand out its development kit including source codes, circuit diagrams and user guides.

"To have more people benefit from robot technologies in their ordinary life, we decided to distribute 'Aircart Openkit', during the second half of next year," the company said in a statement on Thursday.

Aircart, unveiled in October, is currently being tested at a large bookstore franchise in the southern port city of Busan.
