SEOUL, Feb. 12 (Aju News) -- TWICE's new single "Candy Pop" is to receive platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for selling more than 256,000 copies, surpassing the association's requirement set at 250,000.

The nine-member group's agency, JYP Entertainment, said Monday that as of February 10, the girls have topped the singles chart of Oricon, Japan's prestigious music chart, for five consecutive days. "Candy Pop" was released in Japan on February 7.

Sales of "Candy Pop" have surpassed the group's first-week record of 200,000 with "One More Time" released in October last year. TWICE debuted in Japan in February 2017 with the Japanese version of its hit song "TT" with one of its dance moves chosen by Japanese teenagers as their favorite when taking a selfie.
