SEOUL -- LG bragged about "Boombox", a sound box feature for G7 ThinQ, the company's latest smartphone which will be unveiled in New York on May 2, saying it will provide an improved never-heard-before experience.

Musical instruments like a guitar or a violin have sound boxes, an empty space, inside them to amplify the sound and enrich the tone. According to LG, Boombox is about ten times larger than other smartphones.

"G7 ThinQ will provide users with a new audio experience suited to their lifestyles," LG said in a statement, adding it is capable of generating louder and richer sounds than its rivals. The company said the new smartphone will work as a portable woofer when it is placed on objects like a metal table or a wooden box, making it ideal for home parties and outdoor activities.

G7 also provides Hi-Fi Quad DAC (Digital to Analog Converter), which enables the phone to generate sounds closest to its original source by converting digital signals into analog signals, LG said, adding the feature has become the trademark of its flagship phones.
