SEOUL -- Singer-actress IU donated 100 million won (92,864 US dollars) to a Seoul-based charity organization to support children from low-income families.
ChildFund Korea said Thursday that the 24-year-old IU has occasionally made donations, including 100 million won in 2015 and 20 million won earlier this year, expressing her hope that a donation culture would spread through the society. The charity group uses donations to provide lunch and education for children.
IU debuted as a solo singer in 2008 and became one of the favorite entertainers in the K-pop scene. She has released hit songs such as "Through the Night" and "Good Day".
