SEOUL -- North Korea's state media began publishing the arrival and activity of leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore on Monday, breaking silence on his rare foreign trip, saying he used a Chinese plane for his "historic foreign tour" to hold a summit with U.S. President Donald Trump.

After a ceremony in an airport in Pyongyang, Kim left by a Chinese plane for his personal use on June 10 to visit Singapore, according to the North's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

In Singapore, Kim will exchange "wide-ranging and profound views on the issue of establishing new DPRK (North Korea)-U.S. relations, the issue of building a permanent and durable peace-keeping mechanism on the Korean Peninsula, the issue of realizing the denuclearization" and other issues, KCNA said.

KCNA carried two other brief stories on Kim's arrival in Singapore and talks with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. North Korean media is tightly controlled, treats Kim's whereabouts as a top state secret.
