SEOUL -- LG Electronics introduced a new smart washing machine fitted with its artificial intelligence platform called "DeepThinQ" that matches various washing cycles to weather conditions and provides adequate washing methods through verbal communication.

When connected to a home network, LG's new TROMM front load washer can decide whether to increase the strength of its spin-dry cycle or washing cycle depending on the weather, LG said in a statement on Tuesday.

"We aim to develop home AI appliances which could actually improve the quality of life," an LG official was quoted as saying. The latest TROMM washing machine can also communicate verbally with its master and is capable of providing guides for washing such as "Use kitchen detergent and vinegar mixed in one to one ratio to remove stains off clothing."

The global market for AI is expected to reach $59 billion in 2025, according to New York-based market research company Statistica. Currently, LG and Samsung are leading the global AI home appliances market by releasing refrigerators, washing machines, TVs and air conditioners fitted with AI.
