SEOUL -- South Korea's top telecom company, KT, unveiled a new shopping tool using augmented reality (AR) technology that allows customers to experience a lifelike shopping experience as if they were in a real shop.

KT said Monday that its new platform called "AR Market" can provide a 360 degree AR home shopping video on mobile devices. Customers can browse the surroundings as if they are in the store, check detailed information and purchase.

For the first time in South Korea, AR Market will be adopted at NS Shopping, a home shopping mall, and the mobile shopping mall of K Shopping, a T-Commerce company.

KT vowed to step up the development of realistic shopping by applying next-generation technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and 3D modeling as well as AR. Virtual reality shopping platforms have been introduced abroad, such as Amazon's AR View.
