SEOUL -- Actor Jang Geun-suk, who started his mandatory service as a public service worker last month at an emergency control tower in Seoul, urged Japanese fans to stop visiting his workplace.

Jang, diagnosed with bipolar disorder, was dispatched to the Seoul Metropolitan Fire & Disaster Headquarters, the capital's emergency and disaster control tower, on July 15 as a public service worker for his mandatory service which will end in 2020.

"Unwanted visitors could cause inconveniences to workers including Mr. Jang," the 30-year-old's agency, TreeJ Company, said in a statement uploaded onto Jang's Japanese fan club website.

The agency warned that any secret visitors would be banned permanently from the actor's official fan club. "We also strongly insist fans should refrain from lingering around Jang's commuting routes," it said.

The strong message from Jang, known for a warm and friendly attitude, caught the eyes of Japanese fans. Nori, a user from Yahoo Japan, wrote: "Maybe it's because of Jang's bipolar disorder. He must be having a hard time with unwanted fans around his workplace."
