SEOUL -- Hankook Tire, a top South Korean tiremaker, will launch Kinergy AS EV, a new tire optimized for electric vehicles, that would reduce road noise, provide comfort and safe driving, suppress tire slip and transfer strong initial acceleration power of electric motors to the road without loss.

The company said Monday that its new EV tire would be unveiled on September 1. Kinergy AS EV maximizes quietness by reducing the noise generated between the tire and the road surface. Noise has been a prime concern among tire companies as EVs are quieter than regular vehicles.

EV tires need to be designed specifically to handle fast acceleration and high torque, which mean the center part of the tire can experience abrasion due to tire slip. Heavy curb weight and short mileage ranges require low rolling resistance and high strength material.

Hankook Tire said that an Aramid Hybrid reinforced belt and the high-strength reinforced structure were applied to maintain the optimal grounding shape, provide a sophisticated handling performance and improve steering stability. The vegetable oil-added compound and resin extracted from conifers were used to ensure quick and agile handling and braking in all driving environments.
