SEOUL -- Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), the operator of South Korea's nuclear power plants, will team up with three domestic firms to build and manage a hydropower plant in Indonesia.
KHNP said Tuesday in a statement that it signed a memorandum of understanding with Lotte Engineering & Construction, Dohwa Engineering and Korea Development Co. (KODECO) to join hands in building a 48-megawatt hydropower plant in the Southeast Asian nation.
KHNP president Chung Jae-hoon said the project would become a "symbiotic" business model between public and private companies. The company plans to sign a power purchase agreement with Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), an Indonesian government-owned corporation which generates the majority of the country's electrical power.
The joint team will build and manage the power plant for 30 years before handing it over to Indonesia.
