BTS' RM tops iTunes albums chart in 77 countries with experimental mixtape

SEOUL -- BTS member RM has topped Apple's real-time music chart, iTunes Albums, in 77 countries with his second experimental mixtape album. The 24-year-old released his first mixtape in 2015.

RM has unveiled the mixtape and a music video for its title song "forever rain" through YouTube Tuesday. As of 0000 GMT, the free mixtape album, including seven songs, has topped iTunes Albums chart in 77 countries including the United States, Japan, Britain and Germany. 

Also, the music video for "forever rain" has garnered more than 2.5 million views in less than 12 hours. The mixtape is a term used in the hip-hop and R&B scene to describe a certain type of self-produced recordings. Normally, mixtapes are free and sometimes contain experimental music. Other BTS members such as Sugar and j-hope have introduced mixtapes.
