SEOUL -- A small chair which decorates the house and becomes a fitness equipment at the same time has been invited to an annual event to promote design and creativity in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

The chair called "stool.D" was designed by a team led by Park Young-woo, a professor at the school of design and human engineering in the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology. A user can sit on it, watching TV and exercising by stepping on the pedal, with its LED light being rotated according to the pedaling speed.

"It can be used both as a chair and a fitness equipment in a small house, so it will be excellent in practicality," Park said in a statement. "It seemed to have been invited the exhibition because it is new and beautiful, and it brings a change in life."

The chair was one of 150 invited items on display at Dubai Design Week 2018. It was among ten candidates for the Progress Prize that celebrates the next generation of design.
