SEOUL -- Park Bom, a member of South Korea's defunct girl band 2NE1, will come back as a solo artist in March. That would be the 34-year-old's first official activity since the four-member band performed last in 2015.

2NE1 debuted in 2009 as a hip-hop girl band and became popular for its powerful performance and unique style. The group went on an indefinite hiatus at the height of its career in 2014 when Park was caught up in a drug scandal. The group disbanded in November 2016.

In his Instagram post, YG Entertainment head Yang Hyun-seok said: "Although she is no longer with YG, I really wish her all the success with her new release."

There has been no official statement from Park, but unconfirmed media reports suggested on Friday that she would release a solo album in March with her comeback song produced by Brave Brothers, a hit song producer, featuring Sandara as a guest artist.

Sandara, another 2NE1 member, has appeared occasionally in TV programs. CL and Minzy have been involved inconspicuously in solo or other activities.
