SEOUL --  While some 70,000 fans filled London's iconic Wembley Stadium for a BTS concert, many paid subscribers took out their pocket money in every corner of the world to watch it live through a real-time video platform operated by South Korea's largest web portal Naver.

Naver said that its video platform, "V Live", drew more than 140,000 subscribers who synchronously watched BTS' first concert in London from their homes around the world on June 1. BTS held two concerts in London as part of the band's "SPEAK YOURSELF" world tour.

The band's performances were exclusively broadcast live on V Live to provide the audience with seamless audio and video qualities. To ensure the smooth broadcasting of the concerts, Naver had exclusively expanded the number of dedicated servers by four times than those dedicated to ordinary video servers.

"We were able to see the potential for V Live as a live technology platform," Naver's video strategy director Jang Joon-ki was quoted as saying. He said Naver's stacked know-how of operating global live broadcasting infrastructure is a key factor to V Live's growth.

The largest audience group was from the United States, followed by Japan, Taiwan and China, Naver said. The online subscription fee was 33,000 won ($27.88).

Wembley Stadium is a place with symbolic meaning in the global music industry. The stadium is well known for concert venues for selected musicians including a 1985 benefit concert by Queen and other popular musicians. Queen's Live Aid performance at Wembley was depicted in the latest global hit movie "Bohemian Rhapsody".
