SEOUL -- "I've put a lot of effort into the performance," Ailee said as the powerful R & B and ballad singer made her first comeback in two years with her second full album "butterFLY" and its title song "Room Shaker", a hip-hop track with hooks.

Wearing a pink suit, she performed swaggy choreography, including a move to crawl on the floor while playing "Room Shaker". "I got a lot of bruises on my knees," she said, adding that for the first time in her career, she has danced so hard.

"I tried to deliver lyrics attractively rather than to sing the song in a high tone. I also tried to make the song look cool by adding various choreographies," the 30-year-old told reporters at an album showcase event held in Seoul on Tuesday.

"A lot of people recognized me for my singing ability, so I really cared about the choreography this time," said Ailee, whose image has been imprinted with R&B and ballads. "Room Shaker" is an urban hip-hop genre she has never tried.

For a powerful dance combined with steady vocals, she went on a bicycle ride at home and worked hard on live practice.

The new album released at 6:00 p.m. (0900 GMT) on Tuesday contained 10 diverse songs. Ailee showed off her vocal talent by crossing genres from an energetic pop R&B and an electronic pop ballad to an urban pop with electronic sound. "Love" featuring EXO's Chen was made at the request of fans who have wanted collaboration.

Ailee has built up her reputation as a powerful singer since her debut in 2012. She received huge attention from K-pop fans with "I Will Go To You Like The First Snow", the original soundtrack of the 2016 hit drama "Goblin". "Reminiscing" was her recent single album released in 2017.

The Korean-American singer based in South Korea is now one of the most favored female singers in the K-pop scene. She was chosen to accompany President Moon Jae-in for his trip to North Korea for an inter-Korean summit in September 2018. She performed in Pyongyang along with South Korean rapper Zico.
