SEOUL -- Mina, a Japanese-American of South Korea's popular nine-member gird band Twice, will drop out of an ongoing world tour because she is suffering from extreme psychological tension and great anxiety about being on stage, according to her agency.

JYP Entertainment said Thursday in a statement that Mina Sharon Myoi, known for her stage name Mina, would not participate in "TWICE World Tour 2019 ‘TWICELIGHTS", a tour of nine cities that began on May 25 in Seoul and ends on August 17 in Kuala Lumpur.

"Now Mina is suffering from sudden extreme psychological tension and great anxiety about being on stage. No exact diagnosis has been made yet, with several professional medical institutions in the middle of verifying," the agency said.

"After consulting with Mina herself and members, we judged that Mina's current health condition needs additional treatment, professional measures, and absolute stability," JYP said. "The artist's health is more important than anything else, and as her agency, we will do our best in all areas, including medical treatment and sufficient rest, for Mina's recovery."

Twice, formed by JYP through a 2015 reality show, has been popular in Japan and other Asian countries.
