SEOUL -- LG Electronics released a new model of its luxury all-in-one air conditioner, capable of cooling, dehumidifying and filtering air at homes and offices targeting the premium appliance market. It has a tiny robot that automatically cleans air filters.

LG said in a statement on Monday that the fifth version of "LG SIGNATURE AIRCON" features "All-In One Air Solution", an air conditioning solution designed to provide the best air quality in all four seasons. The new air conditioner, which consists of a stand-type air conditioning unit and a wall-mounted unit, carries a price tag of 12.9 million won ($10,641), compared to an ordinary system that costs about two million won in the domestic market.

According to LG, the all-in-one air conditioner manages the best indoor air quality by using its humidifying and dehumidifying features. The company adopted a metallic design to match interior surroundings.

The summer heatwave which soared to more than 36 degrees Celsius (96.8 Fahrenheit) hit the Korean peninsula at the weekend. Weathermen predicted the heat would last throughout August.
