SEOUL -- Samsung Electronics has diversified its strategy to attract consumers in the saturated global smartphone market by releasing two versions of "Galaxy Note 10", the latest model of the company's iconic phablet phone.

At an event in New York on Wednesday (local time), the tech giant unveiled two versions of Galaxy Note 10, a standard 6.3-inch model and a 6.8-inch model, that will hit U.S. and South Korean shelves on August 23. Samsung will start receiving pre-orders from August 9.

Samsung had previously targeted different consumer groups by releasing various versions of its smartphones but this is the first time for the world's top smartphone maker to differentiate its iconic phablet phone lineup.

Both versions feature the "Infinity-O Display", which maximizes the surface area of their AMOLED display by minimizing the space used for placing a front camera, sensors and a speaker. The Note phones support up to 512 gigabytes of internal storage and up to one terabyte of external storage using additional memory chips.

Samsung installed a powerful octa-core chipset which will provide powerful artificial intelligence (AI)-based features such as Bixby, an AI voice assistant, and intelligent camera software which adjusts the phone's settings to take high-quality pictures and video.

"Galaxy Note 10" comes with S Pen, Samsung's symbolic stylus pen, with added features such as "Air action" which allows users to control the phone by waving it around in the air or just by clicking on the pen's button.

The standard Note 10 version with 512-gigabyte internal storage will come with a price tag of 1,248,500 won ($1,031), and the larger one will be priced at 1,496,000 won.
