SEOUL -- K-pop girl band TWICE, which has a strong fan base in South Korea and Japan, will return next month with a new album, the nine-member group's agency said.

JYP Entertainment said on Monday that TWICE will return at the end of September. The band is currently taking a break after holding 10 concerts for a tour which began on May 25. TWICE released its last album, "FANCY YOU", in April.

JYP did not say if Mina, an American-Japanese member, will join TWICE  in the new album's promotion. The 22-year-old pulled out of the band's world tour because she had suffered from "extreme anxiety and insecurity" about being on stage.

TWICE debuted in 2015 and gained global popularity with "CHEER UP", a song released in April 2016, and other hit songs such as "TT" in 2016, and "KNOCK KNOCK" in 2017.
