SEOUL -- Kakao, the operator of South Korea's favorite smartphone messenger app, launched the test service of "Kakao Mail" which provides an automated email organizing feature to help users sort emails by categories.

Kakao said in a statement on November 5 that the beta-service for Kakao Mail began through Kakao Talk. The smartphone mail service automatically sorts emails based on their content so that users can conveniently choose an email they wish to read without the need of searching through a list of unread emails.

"We plan to interlink our Kakao Mail service with various features of Kakao Talk," a Kakao official was quoted as saying. Kakao Mail is currently available through the Kakao Talk smartphone messenger app. Kakao did not disclose plans for other platforms such as PC.

Kakao Talk, with about 44.4 million monthly active South Korean users, provides convenient one-stop services such as instant messaging service, web-cartoon and novel, mobile payment and online banking.
