SEOUL --  U.S. Cellular, a mobile carrier in the United States, will launch indoor and outdoor 5G networks from Samsung Electronics which has partnered with telecom companies to expand its presence in the next-generation mobile telecom market.

Samsung said in a statement that the company has forged a commercial agreement with U.S. Cellular to help the American company launch 5G services using 5G and 4G equipment and software solutions.

"We look forward to this new collaboration with U.S. Cellular, a key provider of mobile services to millions of customers across the U.S.," Samsung Electronics America Senior Vice President Mark Louison was quoted as saying.

To accelerate its 5G expansion in the U.S., Samsung has acquired TeleWorld Solutions (TWS), an American network service provider which designs networks and tests and optimizes services for mobile services and cable operators and other manufacturers to provide end-to-end support in network solutions.

Samsung made a foray into Canada's telecommunications network market after it was selected as the 5G and 4G network solution provider for Videotron, a Canadian telecom operator, in December last year. Videotron plans to launch commercial 5G service by the end of this year.
