SEOUL -- Samsung Electronics has unveiled three new models of its iconic flagship smartphone series that offer an upgraded processor, cameras, and artificial intelligence features than previous models. The new phones will hit the global market in late January.

Three models -- Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra -- were unveiled during Samsung's online showcase event on January 15. S21, the standard version, comes with a 6.2-inch display while S21+ has a larger 6.7-inch display. The Ultra version has a 6.8-inch display. S21 and S21+ are equipped with a triple-lens rear camera and a single-lens front camera. S21 Ultra has a powerful quad-lens camera with a laser autofocus sensor that helps users to take photographs with pinpoint accuracy. Samsung's new phones are capable of recording ultra-high-definition 8K resolution video.

New S21 phones also have upgraded connected features. Through Samsung's SmartThings system, a smart home network system, users can interconnect their phones to a home network to control home appliances and wearable devices.

Samsung has also added Android Auto, a connected car feature, to its SmartThings system through a partnership with Google, the creator of the Android smartphone operating system. S21 users can open garage doors and control their connected car's air conditioning while sitting on a sofa in their lounge.

The South Korean tech giant also showcased "Digital Key Service," a key-in-phone service. The service uses S21 models to open doors of cars. Samsung said that it teamed with global carmakers including BMW, Ford and Genesis to release the digital key service later this year.
