Live interactive communication platforms including various live commerce platforms allow real-time interaction between a host and guests. Customers can ask questions during a live commerce show session and show hosts will answer the questions. During a live interactive concert, fans can request songs and communicate with artists through an interactive online concert platform.
In 2020, K-pop wonder BTS changed the paradigm of concert events by holding two live online concerts through its fan community app Weverse. The seven-member band attracted more than one million paid viewers through its online concerts. Other K-pop artists including girl band BLACKPINK and boy band Super M joined the trend to invite global viewers to interactive online concerts.
Genie Music said in a statement on October 21 that the company launched a new interactive live platform called "STAYG." The online music service provider said the new platform will create an interactive communication bridge between artists and fans through large-sized and small-sized events including concerts and fan meetings.
The music service will adopt global digital payment methods such as PayPal and Union Pay by the end of 2021 and establish paid business models for domestic and foreign markets. There are two language versions -- Korean and English -- available but Genie said that more language versions will be released later.
"We have officially launched STAYG as a communication tool for the non-face-to-face era and promote the value of K-pop," Genie's innovative technology division head director Seo In-wook was quoted as saying. AKMU, a popular brother-sister band, is the first artist to communicate with fans through Genie's new platform. The band will hold a concert to communicate with fans on October 21.
