Scholars and professors of Korea, China and Japan will get together for an international symposium on Northeastern history and culture on June 11. The symposium, which was held in Seoul last year, will be held in Tokyo this time.

The symposium will be hosted by the Northeastern Asia Institute of Comparative Cultural Studies which is chaired by Lee O-young who is a former culture minister.

Under the theme "Rewriting the three countries' history - Looking back to 100 years and looking ahead for next 100 years,'' it will take place at Korean Culture Center in Tokyo. The symposium will draw up guidelines on future plans of the three countries.

In today's global era, the Northeast Asia becomes important regionally, and Korea, China and Japan are now playing important roles on the world stage. But the three countries were constantly criticized for repeating argues over historic and regional issues.

However, it is expected that the symposium will vitalize the trilateral exchanges on culture and contribute to become cultural community.

The four plenary sessions will take place. For the first session, Korea University professor Choi Gwan will deliver the keynote lecture. Kamigaito Kenichi, professor of Otemae University, will take a role of chairperson and Kizo Ogura, associate Professor of Kyoto University, and Tokyo University's Professor Emeritus Haga Toru will take part in a discussion.

They will be followed by thematic lectures and debates sessions. Kim Ki-duck, professor of Konkuk University will give a lecture on young generations in media, and Liu Jian Hui, assistant professor of International Japanese Research Center, will lecture on past, present and future of East Asia.

We ask for your continuous interest and participation.
