President-elect Park Geun-hye on Feb. 13 nominated her long-time foreign policy brain Yun Byung-se as foreign minister, a top transition committee official said.
Yun, 60, a former career diplomat, served as senior presidential secretary for unification, foreign affairs and security policy during the 2003-2008 Roh Moo-hyun administration.
Kim Byung-kwan, 65, a retired Army general who worked as deputy commander of the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command, was named defense minister, Chin Young, vice chairman of the transition committee, told reporters at the transition team's office in Seoul.
Other nominees included:
- Seo Nam-soo, 61, president of Uiduk University in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, as education minister.
- Hwang Kyo-ahn, 56, a former senior prosecutor, as justice minister.
- Yoo Jeong-bok, 56, a three-term lawmaker of the ruling Saenuri Party, as minister of security and public administration.
- Yoo Jin-ryong, 57, a former vice culture minister, as culture minister.
Park is set to take office on Feb. 25.
