The National Assembly on Feb. 14 adopted a resolution condemning a nuclear test North Korea conducted two days earlier in defiance of objections from the international community.

Of 185 lawmakers present at a plenary parliamentary session, 183 voted for the resolution. The remaining two abstained.

The resolution strongly condemned the North Korean nuclear test as a "serious provocative act threatening the lives and safety of the South Korean people."

It said North Korea should shoulder "all responsibilities for problems resulting from the nuclear test."

The resolution called on the communist state to scrap its nuclear weapons programs and return to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
