As the hit drama "Descendants of the Sun" is becoming a craze over Asia, Korean and Chinese tourists are rushing to the drama's filming spots to reenact Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-gyo's romance.

According to various media, local travel agencies are overflowing with enquiries from the drama fans, and some of them already prepared Descendants of the Sun-themed travel packages which takes tourists around famous filming sites.

Zakynthos, one of the Ionian Islands in Greece, is the favorite of the Enthusiastic tourists. A shipwreck which lies on the Navagio beach, where Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo were spotted dating in one of the episodes, is visited by drama fans.

South Korean travel agency "Interpark" also released a nine-day "Descendants of the Sun Tour Package" to Greece, receiving reservations. Small towns Taebaek and Paju which are also filming spots located in Korea are popular among day-trippers.

Meanwhile, viewer rating survey specialist Nielson Korea reported on Wednesday that the ninth episode of the Descendants of the Sun reached viewer ratings of 30.4 percent. The ratings have risen 1.4 percent from the eighth episode.

Its rising popularity sparked speculation the new drama series may beat "The Moon Embracing the Sun," a historical and fantasy drama series aired in 2012, which recorded up to 42.2 percent.

Descendants of the Sun is a 16-episode long drama telling a love story between an army captain and a female doctor, who are on a mission together in a fictional war-torn country called Uruk to save lives. Unlike other Korean dramas, it was pre-produced.
