President Shin Koo at Sejong University·Sejong Cyber University stated that Sejong University ranked 12th among South Korean universities, and within the top 501 globally in the 2018 world university rankings by the Times Higher Education (THE).
The THE ranking evaluates 13 elements under the five categories every year and the categories are △Teaching (30%), △Research (30%), △Citations (30%), △International Outlook (7.5%), △Industry Income (2.5%).
The THE world university ranking is highly respected around the world because it puts strict set of standards on lecture, research, influence and international outlook, etc.
In particular, Sejong University ranked 7th , up from 9th among South Korean universities for △Citations (Weight: 30%) for getting 50.2 points.
The Citations element reflects quality of paper, demonstrating external recognition of Sejong’s efforts for recruiting prominent faculty members and providing supports for their research for many years.
Currently, there are 1680 international students studying at Sejong and it is sending as many as 500 students to overseas partner universities. In addition, Sejong is working toward for its globalization by making four special tracks for only international students, building a language education center and dispatching international student recruiters overseas.
Furthermore, the president, Shin Koo emphasized that “Sejong University will strive to be the best not only in the research area but as well as in the teaching and international outlook.”
