Park Ji-hoon, an 18-year-old member of South Korea's popular boy band Wanna One, has sued cyber bullies who left malicious comments probably stemming from his girly look.
Female celebrities taking legal actions against cyber bullies have been common in South Korea's entertainment industry, but male celebrities refrain from doing so.
Maroo Entertainment has filed complaints with prosecutors, vowing merciless legal actions. The agency said in a statement that a serious level of malicious rumors targeting Park has spread through online communities and social media.
Park was selected through the survival TV audition program, "Produce 101 Season 2", earlier this year to join Wanna One. He had been attacked by cyber bullies who are suspected of supporting his competitors from the show.
