SINGAPORE -- Ahead of a historic summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Singapore has been in a festive and excited mood.

A hotel in Singapore sells a cocktail named after the two leaders and a hamburger set using ingredients such as kimchi, a traditional Korean cabbage pickled in a sauce made with red chili pepper and garlic, and seasoned fried chicken, and American iced tea.

The Singapore branch of KFC, a U.S.-based global fried chicken franchise, announced via its Facebook last week that it has released a new meal set called "Four Peace Meal", its name created with a witty pun. The meal set includes four pieces of fried chicken, two whipped potatoes, two coleslaws and two beverages. Hundreds of curious Facebook users made inquiries about the set's price and KFC said the menu is exclusive to Kim and Trump.

The Singapore Mint has joined the fever by issuing commemorative medals in three editions -- gold, silver and base metal. Due to a hot consumer reaction, the mint promised to increase production of the medals.

Singaporeans welcome the historic event. "I am proud that Singapore was selected as the venue for the summit because of its political neutrality, high security and strategic position," said Lek Yee Kun, a 23-year-old who studies media communication at the National University of Singapore.

Lintansten Yee Sina, a 22-year-old who interns at the Singapore Prison Service, said: "Singaporeans are honored to become part of the historical summit. The whole country is doing its best to bring the best outcome."

However, there are skeptical voices. Kawamura Mami, a 25-year-old Japanese who is an employee of a Singaporean firm, said people around her are expressing different opinions. She said many people care little about the summit or use it as a joke.
