SEOUL -- Guinness World Records highlighted a record-breaking streak by K-pop band BTS, saying the group smashed another record in their home country with "Map of the Souls: Persona", the latest album released in April.

"Their record-breaking streak shows no signs of stopping as they secure yet another record, this time for best-selling album," Guinness said in a news article, saying the album set a new record by selling 3,399,302 copies in South Korea as of May 2019.

The previous record was held by Kim Gun-mo with his third studio album, Mis-Encounter (1995), which has sold 3.3 million copies in South Korea.

Persona topped charts around the world, including Billboard 200 and Britain's albums chart. The album's title song "Boy with Luv" holds three records on its own and its video achieved Guinness World Records title for most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours.
