SEOUL -- Genie, a major online music service operated by South Korea's biggest telecom company KT, has rolled out a new artificial intelligence song curation service that suggests content based on the lifestyle of listeners.

Curation has become a new standard among top online music and over-the-top (OTT) video-on-demand (VOD) services. Users can manage their content to their taste. Genie launched "For You," an AI and big data-driven song curation service that provide 30 songs each on the specific time of a day.

"We have upgraded the music suggestion algorithm to create a curation service that delicately analyzes customers' music-listening patterns," Genie Music's business division director Hong Se-hee was quoted as saying.

Normally, song curation services recommend new music based on what users have listened to. Genie will provide a list of curated songs preferred by other users who listen to similar kinds of music.

To beef up the competitiveness of Genie, KT has adopted different content features and new technologies. In November last year, KT released Seezn, an OTT service, that shared music libraries with Genie to provide some 170,000 original soundtracks that can be accessed in real-time while watching dramas and films.
