SEOUL -- LG Arts Center, operated by South Korean conglomerate LG Group's cultural wing, will deliver breathtaking performances of world-class artists through online shows for global art enthusiasts who stay at home to keep their social distance from one another.
The modern arts center in southern Seoul said in a statement on Monday that it will release performances of world-class artists for a limited time each through online platforms including YouTube and U+TV, a local cable TV platform, from May 8. Every digital performance will go on air at 8::00 p.m. (1100 GMT).
"We plan to add more artworks to our lineup so that our audience can meet a variety of performances," an LG Arts Center official was quoted as saying. The first no-audience performance will be carried out by pianist Bae Jang-eun's "JB Liberation Amalgamation Band," a project jazz band. The second performance on May 15 is "Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake," a contemporary ballet reinterpretation of the Russian romantic work "Swan Lake."
An old-school version of the Swan Lake played by the Norwegian National Ballet will come on June 5 so that fans can compare and enjoy the differences and similarities between the traditional piece and the modern interpretation of the world-famous story.
To promote the global social distancing campaign, LG will showcase its new flagship smartphone "Velvet" through an online fashion show event through YouTube and Facebook on May 7.
