KT work with Taiwan's Nuwa Robotics to commercialize companion robots for kids and senior people

SEOUL -- Nuwa Robotics, a robot company based in Taipei, agreed to cooperate with KT, a major telecom company in South Korea, in commercializing AI companion robots that would serve as an emotional supporter for kids and seniors and carry out various functions such as learning and health care helper, online shopping and digital guide.

KT will provide its AI engine, GiGA Genie. Nuwa Robotics will provide robot hardware and software. Stage Five, an IoT subsidiary of Kakao, a major major web service company in South Korea, will be in charge of specialized content. Ashoka, an international organization that promotes social entrepreneurship, will add social value to content.

The four companies aim to release AI companion robots in the first half of 2021. Customized services would include arm joint movements and nodding as well as AI-based interactive content. Kids content is not simply learning and paying, but a service that can increase children's physical activity by utilizing dynamic movements. Senior content includes dementia care, chatting and medication guidance through a simple voice command
