SEOUL -- Electric cargo trucks produced by South Korea's Hyundai auto group will carry goods from distribution centers to convenience stores in Thailand. After a pilot project this year, EV trucks will be put into commercial operation with ordinary trucks next year.
Hyundai Glovis, a logistics wing of the auto group, said it has forged a strategic business partnership with All Now, a logistics unit of Charoen Pokphand Group, the top conglomerate in Thailand, that runs some 12,000 Seven Eleven outlets in the Southeast Asian country. Along with fuel cell heavy-duty trucks, the auto group produces one-ton EV cargo trucks optimized for urban transportation.
Hyundai Glovis said in a statement that it would expand collaboration with its Thai partner in the logistics industry to advance together into other Southeast Asian countries. The South Korean company established its first Southeast Asian subsidiary in Vietnam in 2019.
