S. Korea adds some 85,320 new COVID cases

On July 29, South Korea added 85,320 new COVID-19 infections, including 439 from abroad, increasing the overall caseload to 19,620,517.
 
The figure for July 29 is just marginally lower than the figure for the day before (88,384), but it represents a sharp increase in infection rates after remaining in the four-digit range for most of June.

Industrial output rises for second consecutive month in June

Data released by the national statistical office showed that industrial output increased in June for the second consecutive month, increasing by 0.6 percent on a monthly basis after increasing by 0.8 percent in May. The manufacturing industry produced at a strong pace in June, driving the increase. Fastest gain in six months, manufacturing output increased 1.8 percent thanks to robust semiconductor and vehicle production.

S. Korea holds summit with Indonesian president

At a summit on economic security problems held in Seoul, President Yoon Suk-yeol and President Joko Widodo of Indonesia decided to collaborate to stabilize the supply chains of important minerals. The leaders talked about ways to improve practical collaboration between their nations, particularly in the areas of economic security, infrastructure, defense, and the environment.

Legal drama series 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo' gains global popularity

"Extraordinary Attorney Woo," a South Korean legal drama series that debuted in the top five of a global Netflix TV program ranking, is rapidly gaining popularity abroad. A little over a month after its debut, the 16-part series came in third on the FlixPatrol daily global leaderboard for the most popular TV shows on Netflix.

An instructional recipe book on Korean cuisine loved by BTS members has been released by Cake Corp., an edu-tech division of well-known mobile camera app maker Snow Co. The septet's favorite foods are represented in the "BTS Recipe Book" along with information on various cooking techniques, including vegan and gluten-free options to accommodate a range of dietary requirements.
