SEOUL -- BTS member Suga was selected as the global ambassador of the National Basketball Association, a North America-based baseball league, to promote various events. The 30-year-old is a big fan of an Oregon-based team "The Portland Trail Blazers."

"It is personally a great honor as I have loved basketball since I was young," the artist said in a video uploaded on NBA's official Twitter account. The South Korean singer earlier said his favorite basketball player is Damian Lillard, a 32-year-old point guard for the Portland Trail Blazers. In September 2022, Suga also posted a picture of himself with Stephen Curry, an NBA player for the Golden State Warriors.

Suga is the first BTS member to launch a solo world tour. According to Big Hit, the seven-member band's agency, the group's lead rapper will go on a solo world tour, starting with the first concert in Belmont Park, New York on April 26. He will cover six countries -- United States, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, and Japan.

Suga has presented outstanding rapping skills by collaborating with other artists. He participated in "Song Request," a song by 53-year-old veteran singer Lee So-ra in 2019. The song's music video gained more than 1.3 million views in less than 24 hours. Suga also collaborated with IU, one of the most popular female artists in South Korea's entertainment scene, to release "Eight," a dance song with some 171 million views on YouTube.
