President Joe Biden is leading the Moonshot project through a public-private group called "CancerX." Along with global pharmaceutical firms such as AstraZeneca and Genentech, the group involves digital healthcare solution providers like Amazon and Intel. The organization also aims to help patients reduce their financial burden.
Lunit is known for is known for Lunit INSIGHT MMG, a solution designed for the detection of breast cancer. This solution involves the comparison and analysis of X-rays and medical images from both breast cancer patients and healthy individuals. The AI system offers insights to human supervisors, assisting them in determining whether additional tests are necessary. Lunit INSIGHT MMG has been successfully deployed overseas, including Taiwan and Saudi Arabia.
Lunit said on November 11 that the company joined CancerX's project. Along with Lunit INSIGHT MMG, the AI solution developer will provide its chest X-ray analysis solution "Lunit INSIGHT CXR." The analysis software can detect lung cancer and unusual lesions with an accuracy rate of more than 90 percent.
The two solutions will be used for diagnosis, treatment, and care for cancer, as well as the management of treatment. "The harsh reality is that nearly half of all cancer patients in the US exhaust their life savings on treatment. This is an immense burden that patients have to bear," Lunit CEO Brandon Suh said in a statement.
